Safe Exit Button

Description

Add a "safety exit" button as a website feature. A "safe exit" button is an important feature designed to protect user privacy and safety, particularly for individuals who may be in vulnerable or sensitive situations. In particular, this button would be immediately added to the Basic Needs Student Support website. Accessing basic needs resources can be vulnerable and those accessing the page can be in challenging situations. Adding a "safety exit" button would give user the ability to protect their privacy, support with stigma concerns and still enabling access to resources at a personal comfort level, and build trust with the users.

Examples

Currently, the University Health Services website - specifically the Survivor Services page - utilizes the "safety exit" button. It is located on the bottom right corner and when clicked it takes you to a google page. https://www.uhs.wisc.edu/survivor-services/

Priority

How would you categorize this feature in terms of priority? Please select only one. I would put this priority between a low and a medium. I know that is not picking one; I am sorry for that! It is a bit more than a low priority but is not crucial for the website to function day-to-day.

  • Medium: Absence of this feature has a moderate level of impact on my website. They may not be crucial for its basic functioning, but should be considered after higher priority tasks.

  • Low: These features would be great to have on the website, but I understand they aren't necessary for its main purpose. If there's time and resources, they could add extra convenience or enjoyment to the user experience.
