Description
I’ve seen several great ways of displaying images in posts from news.wisc.edu that would be great to have access to on our subdomain. The current options for displaying images in posts (“create a gallery” and “add media”) aren’t as engaging and, while they work well for traditional blog posts, they don’t lend themselves as well to visual storytelling. Examples of engaging photo displays from news.wisc.edu include:
By contrast, the “create a gallery” option on sustainability.wisc.edu doesn’t display as nicely. The captions display beneath the photos in the post, but not when the photo is opened, which is the opposite of what we would prefer. And when you open the photos, you can't appear to click through to see the next or previous. No matter how I adjust the gallery settings, this is the only way the images display:
Being able to display photos in posts like the examples above from news.wisc.edu would encourage more visual storytelling and be an engaging way to recap campus happenings/events. If you have advice on how to improve the way photo galleries display within the parameters of our current features, that would also be appreciated!
