Link directly to external pages from Events Calendar event listings
Description
Standard posts have a field for external links. When properly configured, links in post listing elements can send users directly to this external link rather than an intermediary post.
If possible, it would be terrific to add this capability to events in the Events Calendar.
We often promote events from partner organizations, many of which are not part of UW–Madison. To list their events on our website's calendar, we currently recreate the event listings on our website, link to their event page in the body, and update our version when there are changes.
It would be much simpler if the link in our event listings took people directly to the original event on our partner's website.
This feature would also be useful in the case of conference websites. Our annual conference requires multiple pages and more intricate layouts than the Events Calendar can handle. Including these events on our calendar requires an intermediary event post that contains a link to the conference website in the event body. It would be preferable to send users directly to the conference website from our calendar, which could be accomplished using an external link to our own website.
The Event Calendar's Event Aggregator might address the former issue (depending on how partner events are created), but not the later.
